Cicada Treatment Program

Cicadas emerge every 17 years in massive numbers as a means to survive – massive numbers meaning in the millions. Emerging in such huge numbers satiates predators before losing enough of their species to threaten their survival. Yuck.

In some outbreak years, Cicadas sometimes cause damage to ornamental shrubs and trees, mainly in the form of scarring left on tree branches where the females have laid their eggs.  Branches of young trees may die as a result. Plus, Cicadas feed on tree sap, which may also damage trees and shrubs.  While they do not bite or sting in a true sense, some may occasionally mistake a person's arm for a plant limb and attempt to feed. Double yuck.

Summer fun may seem doomed...but help is on the way, thanks to Lupfer Landscaping’s new Cicada Treatment Program.

Our technicians are trained and certified to treat for cicadas. We target the shrubs and trees where cicadas love to hang out. This is a contact insecticide that kills the cicadas that are currently on the property. Lupfer Landscaping will return to your property after three weeks to treat a second time in order to keep the pests under control.

This treatment will not eliminate all cicadas from your property. It does not stop new ones from emerging nor does it form a barrier to outside cicadas entering your property.

Is it safe? YES! This is a liquid application that is sprayed on shrubs and trees. After the application has dried, approximately 30 minutes after the spraying, the yard is ready for family and pets to enjoy!

Cost: The minimum charge is $200.00 per visit: this covers the first 5,000 square feet; after that it is an additional $50.00 per 5,000 square feet. We repeat the application after 3 weeks for a total of 2 rounds. Invoices will be emailed to your email address, and we accept credit cards or checks for payment.
