Looking for a way to get your just listed house noticed? Going green will soon be it. The National Association of Realtors has just published a guide that will help the Multiple Listing Service (MLS) list the green features of a home. The data shows that this is exactly the kind of thing consumers are looking for.
“The demand for green is growing.” says NAR President Steve Brown. “NAR’s research consistently shows that today’s consumers want homes and communities that are environmentally sustainable and resource efficient.” The most important factors are the ones that directly affect the pocketbook: heating and cooling costs, lighting, and energy efficient appliances. At the same time, half of the respondents ranked landscaping as very or somewhat important.
So if you want to get and edge on your competition; start implementing the latest green technology into the landscape: capture the rainwater, plant for shade, and reduce the maintenance requirements of the property. If you do, you’ll be sure to sell your house faster and for more money thank your neighbor.
